I Try To Help A Friend And His Family And Both They And My Wife Are Angry… Why, I Am The One Trying To Help?

So, my buddy Jamal, owes me a lot of money, like $10,000… He just lost his job, And has no way to pay me back…
So I thought as an alternative that would have him pay me back in services, which he was all on board for, and grateful for… So it seemed to be great…
So I sent him and his wife (Laquisha) and two kids to my father’s farm in Kentucky to work for him until the debt is paid off…
So, he and his son can work in the fields while his wife and daughter, can clean the house and cook the meals… My dad even has a place on the Farm where they can live, so they never have to leave…
Well after only a couple of weeks of being there, he is complaining… All bent outta shape because he wants his kids to go school and he wants to come and go as pleases… I tried to explain to him that I gave his family to my dad and he owns them until the debt is paid off… His kids can back to school next year.
Well, the worst of it all is that my wife agrees with him!
I don’t get it, HE OWES ME MONEY, and I WAS NICE ENOUGH to let the debt go for work… And now, I am catching grief from him and my wife… WHY? Is it because they are from the north? I mean, am I really wrong in this?
